NRCB announces new Chief Executive Officer
The chair and Board members of the Natural Resources Conservation Board (NRCB) are pleased to announce the appointment of John Brown as its new chief executive officer (CEO). John was hired after a thorough selection process.
John has had a long and successful career with the Alberta government and brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the position. He began his career with Alberta Agriculture’s agronomy unit and went on to hold senior management positions in the areas of food safety, crop diversification, industry development, the Alberta Grains Council, crop breeding, and livestock research. John then became assistant deputy minister of Alberta Agriculture and Forestry’s industry and rural development division. Most recently, he has held the position of assistant deputy minister of the science and innovation division of Alberta Economic Development, Trade, and Tourism.
John brings vision, experience, and proven leadership abilities to the NRCB. His guidance will ensure the organization continues its role as a respected and efficient decision-maker. John takes over from Walter Ceroici who has been the NRCB’s acting CEO since January 2018. Walter will continue as NRCB director of science and technology, a role he maintained while also fulfilling the duties of the CEO.
The CEO of the NRCB is responsible for corporate services, the delivery of regulatory functions of the Agricultural Operation Practices Act, and development of policy to support these functions.
John Brown will join the NRCB as CEO on October 1, 2019.
